Admission Policy

The school operates a non-discriminatory and transparent application and admissions process.Every child that applies to our school goes through the admissions assessment. We assess thestudents to place them in the most appropriate grade level based on their skills. After the initialassessment, the admissions team holds the right to place the student at the appropriate gradelevel.

Admissions assessment is based on holistic evaluation of the child’s learning and his/her performance during the test. The school considers academic, social, emotional, and motoric skills as well as behaviour and attitude since they all are equally valuable in child’s holistic development.

All fully completed applications are processed by the Admissions Team (including a special education teacher and the principal) on a case-by-case basis. During the initial evaluation process, and in line with Finland’s educational ethos, the Admissions Team assess the school’s ability to provide each individual candidate a quality education. Candidates’ applications are grouped into potential and non-potential. Potential means that the school may have the adequate resources to provide the candidate with a quality education experience, while nonpotential means that the school is not able to adequately serve the needs of the candidate.

Applications are accepted on a rolling, first-come-first-served basis throughout the school year, subject to availability. Guardians can fill in an application form on the school website or visit the school to get assistance.Year level placement is primarily determined by the age of a student when they are admitted.
